Sound Therapy

The therapeutic application of sound frequencies is based on two principles:

  1. Bullet Sound is a vibratory energy that interacts with the vibratory energy of body structures through resonance   (which is defined as the interaction of two bodies vibrating at around the same frequency)

  2. Bullet Each bodily structure has its own natural resonating frequency

The human body is a natural resonator, with each organ, tissue, bone and fluid generating and responding to different kinds of vibrations. It is composed of almost 80% water, and as sound travels through water approximately five times faster and in greater force than through air, it makes a perfect resonator for sound.

To date, a number of studies have shown that a variety of sounds, both as pure tones and as music, may benefit a vast array of physiological and psychological parameters. Among these are the equalisation of brain waves, increase of breathing depth, decrease of heart rate, lowering of blood pressure, reduction of muscular tension, increase of circulation and endorphin production, boost of immune function, improved memory and learning, as well as decrease of depression.

Within her clinic, the instruments used by Leslie are tuning forks. Tuning forks are able to produce the purest tone of any natural instrument, and are easily applied to the body. The general treatment protocol is that after activating the tuning forks by tapping them lightly, the stem of the fork is placed directly on specific acupuncture and acupressure points for 25 to 35 seconds, or until they stop vibrating.

“When we are in a state of health, we're like an extraordinary orchestra that's playing a wonderful symphony of the self. But what happens if the second violin player loses her sheet music? She begins to play out of tune, and pretty soon the entire string section sounds bad. Pretty soon, in fact, the entire orchestra is off. This is a metaphor for disease."
